Roof jump man latest - Top cop calls for patience over disruption

A MAN on the roof of a Lewes Doctor's surgery is still threatening to jump.

The 24 year-old from Priory Road is thought to have been up on the roof of the surgery on High Street, since the early hours of this morning.

A large part of the High Street has been closed all morning causing traffic chaos.

Inspector Viv Johnson asked for patience and understanding from shoppers and traders.

She said: 'I consider this to be a life threatening situation to approach.

'I understand this blocks off a crucial part of Lewes and I appreciate the disruption it has caused to the shopkeepers and shoppers of Lewes.

'I want to thank them for their co-operation it is a life threatening situation which we are hoping to resolve safely.'

The drama has caused traffic chaos in Lewes. Vehicles are backed up from Cuilfail Tunnel and beyond Earwig Corner towards Uckfield.
