Tomorrow Saturday 7th June is the monthly market held at Robertsbridge Hall between 10am – noon. You can buy fresh produce; home made produce, take away curry meals, many handicraft stalls and the pet food stall will also be there. Once you have done your shopping have a nice coffee and chat with friends.

Tomorrow evening 7th June at Robertsbridge Club `The Cajun Dawgs` is back by popular demand. This starts at 8pm and is free to members.

On Sunday 8th and 22nd June Peter Miles will be leading a Special Woodland Walks in Mountfield on behalf of church funds. The walks will be over some very special land that is normally completely inaccessible from any public footpaths. Peter will reveal the remains of a 13thC fortified manor house (similar to Glottenham Castle) and other mediaeval earthworks, some extraordinary trees and rare plants, the remains of local mining from at least the 16thC. Fascinating local field and wood names, a Tudor version of Spaghetti junction and so much more. Of particular interest is the well-preserved section of the old Sow Trail by which iron was transported from Penhurst to Robertsbridge Ironworks. Places are £7.50 for adults with children going free, but this is not recommended for under 10`s. Dogs on leads are also welcome. The walks are only a couple of miles and generally easy walking. They will start from Mountfield Village Hall at 10am and last for just under three hours. Peter is always a lively and informative guide. Sunday 8th June will see Steve Riv and Nana back at the Salehurst Halt from 5pm-8pm.

Following the opening night success in May, Robertsbridge Jazz Club will be opening again on Thursday 12th June at Robertsbridge Hall between 8pm – 10.30pm. Entrance is just £8 and you can enjoy great jazz in a relaxed atmosphere with table seating, bar and food. This month the club will be presenting the Mike Hext Quintet.

On Thursday 26th June is the Robertsbridge Village Halls AGM starting at 7pm. You are all welcome to attend the open meeting and go along to see how the hall is run. If you have any suggestions then this is the time to tell the committee. If you would like to be on the committee and do your bit for the hall this is the time to go along, as new members are always welcome. The hall belongs to the village and a high standard is maintained but the support of locals is needed for this to continue.

Sunday 29th June there will be free tennis coaching for children aged 4years – 12 years. This is at Mountfield Tennis Club that plays on the courts at Vinehall School. For further information please contact Maryanne on 01580881629.

Stoolball: On Tuesday [27th] we were unable to raise a ladies team to play at Icklesham but on Thursday[29th] the mixed played at home to Scorpions who batted first and some good fielding found the visitors at 40-2 after two run out’s but a third wicket stand of 43 between Richard C[40] and Jackie [26n.o.] steadied their innings and when Richard was bowled by Abigail Fifield [1-12] Lee [39n.o.] saw the visitors finish on 126-3. An opening partnership of 39 between Keith Apps [25] and Sarah Clark [26] gave us a good start but we lost Ian Kitson [5] and Josh Lewis[1] quickly. Shawn Green[12] and Graham Clark [13n.o.] steadied the innings but Sophie Turner [3], Claire Hatter [0] and Abigail [9n.o.] saw the innings fall short by 25 runs. Last Sunday[1st] the Ladies played at Pett Tournament and although we did not win a game we played well and in the 4 games played Melinda Mackay [99], Sophie Turner[32], Abigail Fifield [64] and Kayley Sherwood [5] scored runs while Melinda took a wicket and a catch. On Sunday [8th] the Ladies are at Hooe Tournament (10.30a.m.) while the Mixed are at home to Catsfield on Tuesday[10th] and away to Civil Service on Thursday [12th] with both matches starting at 7p.m.

Football: On Saturday [14th] England take on Italy in our first World Cup match K.O. 11p.m. We are building up to the kick-off with fun and games during the evening, with a barbeque, from 7p.m. at Robertsbridge Club.
