She was at the Sussex Produce Company café, in High Street, to introduce her debut novel, The Amber Fury, last Tuesday.

The café was the perfect venue for the brilliantly versatile Natalie Haynes, talking about the influence of the Classics on the modern world and about her first novel.

Natalie has a degree in Classics and has been a stand-up comedian.

She is frequently on Radio 4 and as well as being a writer herself, has been a judge for several of the major literary prizes.

All these talents combined to make her a fantastic speaker.

Apologising for the speed with which she speaks (which she said was only normal in New York!) Natalie entertained us for a couple of delightful hours, answering questions and signing her books at the end.

Wine and a convivial atmosphere were provided by Sussex Produce.
