Queues form as Eastbourne shops reopen after three months

Shops in Eastbourne are opening their doors to customers today for the first time in three months.

The Government ordered non-essential shops, such as clothes retailers, to close their doors on March 23 as the UK went under lockdown due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

But from today (Monday, June 15), all non-essential retail shops were allowed to reopen.

This morning, queues of eager shoppers started building up outside some stores, including Primark.

Ahead of today’s opening, shops across the country have had to implement social distancing policies, such as limiting the number of customers and providing hand sanitiser stations.
