Pupils get a taste of their community

Year two pupils from Herstmonceux School visited The Eastern Promise Indian restaurant in Hailsham Road as part of their local area studies.

Teacher Helen Earthrowl said: 'The owner provided a curry free as an experience for the children.

'Now the children know more about local trade in the village.'

Hassan Khan, manager, said the children seemed to enjoy the chicken tikka, pilaw rice and onion bhaji meal.

He added: 'We decided to do it for the community and to encourage young people to enjoy curry.It isn't the first time we have done it but the children loved the curry.

'We are looking forward to doing the curry event again next year.'
