Punk band The Lurkers to play in Bognor

One of punk's survivors is coming to Bognor Regis next month. Arturo Bassick will be bringing The Lurkers to the QEII in The Steyne on October 3.

He said: "I still love playing. So, like a lot of other punk bands from 1977, 78, 79 still out there, I'm putting my energy into keeping our music alive."

The bass player and lead vocalist continues the band's link to its glory days when punk was sweeping the music scene.

The band was formed in West London in mid-1976. Their own brand of punk tunes and lyrics gave them five Top 40 hits between 1977 and 1979. This success led to appearances on Top of the Pops and regular slots on John Peel's Radio One show.

The band folded, were reformed and folded again before Bassick brought them alive again in 1987.
