PUBLICANS SCOOP AWARDS

A Crowborough licensee is celebrating winning two categories in the Shepherd Neame Pub Awards.

The awards are organised annually by independent family brewer Shepherd Neame to reward excellence in innkeeping skills.

Kay Moon, of The Blue Anchor, Beacon Road, Crowborough, won the Best Cellar award, sponsored by BOC Gases, and will enjoy an overnight hotel break with tickets to a concert or sports event of her choice.

She also received the Welcome Award, sponsored by Boonaburra Wines, which has won her a weekend in Paris with Eurostar. Staff were praised in a pub where 'nothing is too much trouble'.

Another East Sussex pub, The Horse and Groom at Rushlake Green, won the Best Garden award with tenants Mike and Sue Chappell winning 250 worth of vouchers, courtesy of Magners Irish cider.

The judges praised a stunning garden, set between an idyllic village green and picturesque valley.
