Public urged to join waste forum

PUBLIC concerns about the management of minerals and waste will be addressed at a free public forum at Rydon Community College, Storrington, on Friday, May 8, starting at 7pm.

Nick Herbert, MP for Arundel and South Downs, who was recently appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, will be joined on the panel by Richard Bate of environmental planners Green Balance; Jean Locker, secretary of Thakeham Village Action; Keith Riley, managing director, Veolia Environmental Services (UK) plc; and Phillip Russell, head of wastes management services at West Sussex County Council.

Gary Shipton, editor in chief of Sussex Newspapers, will be in the chair.

The meeting will explore the most viable options for managing minerals extraction and the disposal of waste and will be a rare opportunity for members of the public to express their concerns and to have their questions answered by experts.
