Public to be updated on regeneration of Bognor

A public meeting about the latest plans for the multi-million pound regeneration of Bognor Regis takes place next week.

The meeting has been organised by the council to keep the public fully informed about the plans which should see up to 500 million invested in the town over the next decade.

It follows an encouraging report delivered to the council about the impact of the current economic climate on the regeneration programme, based on detailed consultation with the key development partners.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on October 8 at the Butlins Shoreline Conference Centre and will give the public a full and frank progress report of the various regeneration projects within the town.

Entry to Butlins will be free via their Day Visitor entrance in Gloucester Road. Free car parking will be available in the adjacent Gloucester Road car park.

All key partners involved in the programme of development will be attending alongside the council and SEEDA (South East of England Development Agency).

They will be there to answer the public's questions and to hear views and comments on their respective contributions to the town's future.

Councillor Norman Dingemans, chairman of the Bognor Regis sub committee, said: "People have every reason to be excited and optimistic about the Bognor Regis regeneration programme, even in the current economic climate.

"This meeting will be important to demonstrate how plans for the town's regeneration are still moving positively forward. We are keen, as always, to ensure that the public is kept fully informed and has a chance to respond.

"We have always emphasised that the greatest value for Bognor Regis will be generated from the connected and cohesive impact of the individual elements and projects within it.

"The public meeting will emphasise this and will be the only definitive and factual report of the programme's progress as it will be delivered by the development partners themselves."
