PRAISE FOR SCHOOL FIREFIGHTERS

Firefighters at Barcombe have been praised for the help they gave the village school after an arson attack.

A classroom was badly damaged in the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Chairman of Governors Carwyn Hughes said: 'Barcombe is a small and tight knit community. We are devastated by this attack on our fantastic village school.

'This is going to cause significant disruption on the children and staff alike.

'I would like to pay tribute to the Barcombe Fire Brigade who have responded magnificently to this event going beyond their duty and helping with the clear-up.

'Their response is indicative of the shared community outrage to this incident.

'The chances are that someone local was responsible for this and I urge anyone with knowledge to give that person up.'
