They raised £1,760.66 for Pancreatic Cancer UK in tribute to John Latus, who died from the disease.

A special gala show of Peter Pan at the Regis Centre and a performance in Chichester by ensemble group All That Malarkey contributed £520.66 of that total.

John’s wife, Hazel Latus, said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the community, family, friends and ex-colleagues and to everyone at the Regis Centre for their amazing support.”

John died last November, aged 74, just days after being diagnosed.

He was cared for at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester by Dr Fraser and her team and the nursing staff on the Chichester Suite.

“At a time of shock and immense sadness and loss, Dr Fraser, nurse Alison and all of their wonderful colleagues were exceptional and we are truly grateful to them all,” said Hazel.

John, who is also survived by five children and seven grandchildren, worked at the BBC for over 30 years on classics like Blackadder.
