Homebuilder donates £,1000 to historic Barnham church's extension

The church, which continues to act as a focal point for the community, is nearly 1,000 years old, with mentions dating back to 1086 in the Domesday Book, and this extension is expected to provide additional facilities for the community and service the church’s growing flock.
The parish is currently 9,000 strong, and Reverend Canon Paul Armstead, Rector of Barnham, anticipates it will grow to more than 20,000 people over the next 10 to 15 years.

Hide AdThat makes the extension a vital part of the church’s future. Not only will it create vital new space for the St Mary’s congregation, it will also be open to the public for a variety of charitable uses. With a meeting and activity room, as well as a kitchen included in extension plans, it’s hoped the church will become home to a number of worthwhile local causes.
The project is scheduled to be completed in three years time and, once complete, the church intends to host a celebratory event where residents and parish members will be invited to explore the new addition.
