Eastbourne Seniors Forum has cancelled this year’s Good Life Exhibition due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions.

The annual one-day exhibition is the forum’s biggest event, attracting around 1,000 visitors.

The day sees 50 lifestyle stalls and displays from a wide range of different organisations and companies providing support and help to seniors in Eastbourne and beyond.

William Chasseaud, publicity officer for the group, said, “We have already started to plan for next year’s exhibition.

“In due course I will be publicising it, as well as other events and meetings that the forum is keen to hold, depending on the government’s advice on public gatherings.

“We have received numerous telephone calls and messages from members of the public and organisations expressing their disappointment at the cancellation of this year’s exhibition.

“This year would have been the ninth consecutive year of the event, which was due to take place in the Welcome Building on Carlisle Road.”

The group has also had to cancel its annual general meeting.

The forum says it encourages older people to share their views and raise concerns to promote an ‘older voice’ at regional and national levels.

Members can also meet with others, therefore preventing social isolation.

It publishes a regular newsletter for members on its website, and is continuing to hold virtual committee meetings to plan events which provide information on matters of importance to the over 50s.

The forum also represents Eastbourne seniors at local and regional discussions about the planning and provision of services.
