Pagham farm resort gets go-ahead

A new layout in an attraction at Church Farm Holiday Village in Pagham has been given the go-ahead.

Site owner Bourne Leisure Ltd can carry out structural alterations to the ShowBar after councillors approved its request to vary its premises licence.

The work forms part of a 1.3m investment into the tourism venue to provide tiered flooring for three different levels within the room as its 2009 season gets underway.

The new licence will also regularise the holding of wrestling bouts there. The decision by Arun District Council's licensing sub-committee last Friday saw councillors impose extra conditions on to the licence in response to comments made by two residents who attended the meeting.

The restrictions are aimed at solving the noise problems which caused neighbours to complain to the council about the Church Lane holiday village's impact on their lives.

The conditions state that no customer should be allowed in the service yard except in emergencies and that, when bands bring sound systems, the music will be switched off immediately. Managers at Church Farm have to produce a noise management plan which must be agreed with the council's environmental health officers.

They also have to hold an annual meeting with their neighbours to discuss their concerns.
