We did it for the cat

IN response to the letter published about a cat released from a property in Worthing while the property owner was on holiday, I would like to clarify the following points.

The RSPCA animal collection officer sought police assistance when he saw a cat was trapped within the house and the owner of the property was on holiday.

The police gained entry to the house and the cat was freed and then the police secured the property again and left a message for the owner stating what had happened.

When we heard from the owner several weeks later, we were happy to look into the matter and we have paid in full for any damage done to the door.

This should have happened earlier, but due to the letter going to the wrong department it took longer than we would have liked.

We have apologised to the owner for any distress caused to her and for the delay, but obviously our first concern was for the distress of the animal trapped inside.
