Sort out town's problems first

I was shocked when reading a resent Observer to see on page 2 the title '˜more homes needed for town expansion'.

Where are we going to put these new homes and the schools and hospitals that need to go with them, not to mention the employment required for these residents to work at? My big surprise came when on page 6 I saw an article by the council leader stating that the town will continue to welcome visitors to the town from the EU and beyond.

Now let’s get something straight; visitors are welcome, they come, they spend, they leave. But what the councillor went on to say was that we have a fast growing population and included asylum seekers in that.

Councillor, I ask you where are we going to put them? We don’t have enough homes already. Please, I ask you, stop over populating our town. Stop telling people what they want. Please don’t try to pull the racist card on me – it is not racist to want the best for your own. We have a large number of people in this town looking for work, my own daughter being one of them, that at the beginning of their adult life, can’t find work.

So, as a town councillor, try to solve the town’s problems, not the world’s. It’s not your job. I do, however, agree that racist crime and hate crime should not be tolerated, but the way to stop it is by solving the town’s problems.

I was ashamed to hear the local MP Ms Rudd’s display on national TV when she had the chance to put her side of the argument but instead made a shameless personal attack on Boris. I, for one, will never vote for some one who does such things.
