Norman flag was insult to Saxons

I have just visited the Seafood and Wine Festival in Hastings and must say it was an excellent event.

I was particularly pleased to see fine efforts are being made to commemorate the 1066 Battle of Hastings on this year of the 950th anniversary.

I was however dismayed to see that the flag on the logo representing King Harold was a St George flag.

The St George flag was brought in in the 13th century to replace the Saxon White Dragon. It is therefore a symbol of Norman oppression of the Saxon people.

Thousands of years after the battle we, the people of England, are still living with the dire consequences.

The Normans stole our land and their descendants still form the majority of the ruling class. The names of most children in private schools and at Oxbridge are Norman. The Normans were nasty and unpleasant to the English people and still literally Lord it over us.

To show the Norman St George flag with Harold is an insult to the Saxon people.
