Why the ban? Dogs are not the problem at Eldon Way park

IN response to T. L. Anderson's letter "Dogs don't drop rubbish or start fires" (Gazette, April 16), I would like to say that I have contacted Arun District Council about the proposal to prohibit dogs from the park at Eldon Way, Wick.

This is a very convenient park for early-morning walkers also, and maybe a time restriction for dogs could be put on the park to accommodate everyone.

I also stated to Arun that the problem with this park was not dogs and owners but the intimidation from older teens, who then leave their rubbish and tins around, with other even less desirable items.

The response I received seemed to be a standard one, stating that the consultation period was now over, but they would consider any comments received in the next few weeks.

They also said that a proposed dog control notice (ban on dogs) was put up, but ripped down by vandals (say no more).

However, if you look at the council's website, there is no mention of the Eldon Way park being affected by these changes.

It would seem the decision was made and we have no say, as most things are with this council!
