The National Trust has announced events across West Sussex for September and October which includes autumn colour walks, autumn photography, gardening workshops and art exhibitions.

Family Artventures

Come and enjoy our popular family crafts sessions in the Potting Shed. Take inspiration from the beautiful gardens around you and get creating, using all the materials we supply.

Karina Knight is a professional English artist working in South West France. She specialises in painting portraits and interiors in oil, pastel and watercolour. Her latest work includes interiors of Nymans.

Uppark House and Garden

Print room opens

Uppark’s lovely 18th century Print Room is only open seven times a year. Over 60 prints are arranged like a miniature picture gallery, each with its own decorative paper frame, below which sit cut-out watercolours of flowers in delicate terracotta pots.

Petworth House and Park

The Great British Walk celebrates autumn colour

Petworth House guides lead a series of walks, taking in the park’s autumn colour and harvest, as well as some of the views that inspired our greatest landscape artist JMW Turner. A highlight of the season is the exciting fallow deer rut; deer have been at Petworth for centuries and are captured in Turner’s painting Sunset, Fighting Bucks, which can be seen in the Carved Room.

Spot the Spaniel dog day

Bring your four-legged friend for canine capers in Petworth Park. Browse countryside stalls and take part in scurries, competitions and general doggy fun.

Enjoy a 12 mile leisurely walk from Black Down to Woolbeding Common and a minibus ride back. Take in views over open heaths before descending into ancient woodland full of fungi, wildlife and rich autumn foliage.
