Repeat visits to sample the delights of Littlehampton

WE recently travelled from Surrey with a group for a walk over the footbridge to Climping and a wonderful stroll back to West Beach, paddling along the water's edge on a superb evening with the late settling sun.

We then ate at the award-winning East Beach Caf, where we had beautifully cooked fresh food and smiling attentive service.

We came back again last Sunday – Littlehampton is just wonderful, brightly coloured beach huts, fantastic clean beaches, a litter-free town and huge grass areas carefully cut, where kites were being flown.

Even the few empty shops have fabulous pictures in the windows.

It all looked thriving and the new developments are in keeping with the area.

Families were crabbing, fish could be bought at the quayside, fish and chips could be had at another award-winning take-away and eaten sitting on the harbour wall.

Dutch Bikes could be hired and the RNLI shop was manned by a very friendly couple and we purchased real ginger biscuits, the like of which we have not tasted in years, made locally, it said on the box.

Littlehampton is a real gem, owing much to its local people and council for sensitivity and being innovative enough to let it grow without becoming garish.

It has remained a real family-friendly place.

We will certainly be back and have recommended it to lots of friends.
