Great occasion

I THOUGHT the Olympic Torch procession through Arundel was a truly wonderful occasion, despite the wind and rain.

The atmosphere during the day was infectious and I would love to thank the TLA Steel Band for keeping everyone in High Street amused with their music.

Reading in Thursday’s paper (Gazette, July 19), I couldn’t believe people were complaining about the ,wet weather. Yes, perhaps more should have been done by Arun District Council to provide shelter for the children in the castle.

But, honestly, there were 14,000 or so other people who braved the rain and got saturated while lining the streets. We knew that rain was forecast. Surely people could have been more prepared?

And at the end of the day, what’s getting a little bit wet, compared to seeing a once-in-a-lifetime event?
