Families flock for Sunday Funday organised by Horsham church

Sundays are kept for the utter art of relaxation. Family is what matters most on this sacred day of rest.

So it was a breath of fresh air to see families flocking to the Christian Life Centre (CLC) at Greenway Academy to have fun and be part of the larger local community.

Welcomed by friendly smiles who were genuinely happy to see me at 11 o clock on a Sunday morning, offering tea and coffee in beautiful vintage tea sets.

The cake display was down right award winning, no doubt an impressive display of the ladies’ skills. With so much choice of delicious home made cakes, scones and meringues it was enough to keep me there all day.

As I drank my tea I was serenaded by singers and musicians making the whole experience more of a local culture show rather than your typical church event. The plentiful amounts of children were fully enthralled with the puppet shows that had them clapping, dancing and singing along.

With a bouncy castle outside to alleviate the ever energetic children it felt all too relaxing to be too busy to go anywhere else. But what was felt the most was the sense of community and family. There was certainly no shortage of food or conversation with everyone quite at ease despite the new location of the church.

This was most definitely the whole intention and the greatest success of the CLC Sunday Funday. And with a free BBQ, games, face painting and entertainment what else could keep you away?

Local shop owners and businesses were on the ready displaying their cleverly crafted and home made products for people to try and buy whilst tucking into their cakes.

It was so refreshing to see a community coming together to just have fun without any alterior motive.

There wasn’t a money bucket in site - hooray! And I didn’t have to give out a single penny for the face painting. Something all four of my children just can’t live without!

So what makes CLC stand out from every other church in Horsham? Its willingness to serve, share and be part of the families all around. From the new mum to the ageing grand parent, every part of the community came to share in the Joy of living life together.
