The government keep telling us that its priority is to save lives . That is not so , its priority is to run the country.

The health service saves lives and has a capable Minister overseeing it, and it should get every support, financial and otherwise.

Yet there are other things for different government departments to be doing.

At present the government is only running the country towards financial ruin which will affect millions of citizens adversely for Heaven knows how long .

Why is that? It is because the government is being ‘guided by the science’, and is hanging on the every word of scientific and medical people who have a very narrow life view.

The opinions of economists, business owners, employers of all kinds, their employees and indeed the general public, have been wrongly side-lined, hence a very unbalanced approach.

Scientists do not always assess well the consequences of their actions, and the same is happening now: this emphasis on only suppressing the virus ignores all the consequences of doing little about anything else on the government’s agenda from the time it was elected.

It is inconceivable that almost everyone in government can only now address this one virus issue, yet that is the impression gained from government briefings and the reporting we receive.

So to Boris , please get the government to run the country and rather than lecture the public let health service professionals, scientists and the Health Minister run the NHS well/

It’s what they are highly paid to do on behalf of their excellent staff, and please stop this negative stance of continually waiting for ‘scientific’ reasons to delay ever longer the end of lockdown, which is in my opinion over-done, dictatorial, and a potential national economic disaster.

How to do that in a sensibly phased manner will emerge very quickly if your team focuses determinedly on it, something which, if the TV media is to be believed, has hardly been happening at all.

The general public is being wholly co-operative but you still don’t seem to trust us, otherwise the ridiculous and unhealthy ‘stay indoors’ rule would be out of the window.

It is entirely possible to keep to social distancing while outside with sensible guidelines set, as already shown at supermarkets and in walking past others at distance in the street.

We do not merit the signs of police-state totalitarianism which are emerging , simply because short-sighted science is in charge .

Let us all adopt the ‘can do’ approach and look and plan ahead very positively please.
