Broken street lights in Battle

I am writing in regard to the three consecutive street lamps adjacent to the wall of Battle Abbey which have not been functional for many weeks now.

The stretch of roadway and parallel path is in pitch darkness when I have to walk the length of the unlit section every weekday from the railway station at 6pm.

I have spoken to Battle Town Council and they have informed me that East Sussex Highways have done nothing about it, save informing them that it is a matter for UK Power Networks, and that there is no scheduled date for repair .

This is simply not good enough.

I am 71 years old and considered by the government to be a vulnerable person.

From whom I should seek compensation should I fall over and injure myself?
