A solution has been given to Rother’s expert and, if it is carried out during the coming season on the failing hedging along the Metropole Lawns, then the matter is finished.

However, we shall see.

In the meantime, one Observer reader contacted me to say that his gardener had asked him if he would recommend him for ‘a Prestigious National Award’!

Puzzled, the reader asked him what’s this all about?

Well, said the gardener, “I’ve mown the lawn !”
