I urge the council to cancel this sale

I AM writing to register my objection and to let you know how upset I am at the thought of Worthing Council selling the beautiful downland around Cissbury Ring to developers.

I am lucky enough to live close by in Broadwater and I have had many beautiful walks around this area.

See video of the protest at Cissbury Ring by clicking here.

No mater how many times you go up there it is always different but the one thing that remains the same is that it is always beautiful and peaceful.

I count myself so lucky living in such an urban area yet having this oasis on my doorstep.

I just don't understand how this idea can even be contemplated by Worthing Council.

We are all aware of the need for extra housing, but using this land is just extreme but perhaps, possibly, an easy solution for the council.

However, we are also well aware of the environmental need for green open land, trees, migrating birds, insects, etc and all the benefits they provide.

We have to get the balance right and we only get one chance.

This development will have such a negative impact on so many people, locals and tourists.

What better way to relieve the stresses and strains of everyday life than a walk in the countryside and also what a wonderful tourist attraction.

Worthing can offer so much more than the beach and lets face it the shopping centre doesn't currently fill people with joy.

You will see many people walking with their dogs, children, friends, it is an area for exercising, socialising, educating and contemplating.

If we were to lose this, where would we go?

I also understand there is all sorts of assistance available to Worthing Council, not just financially, but also to care and look after this land and the wildlife.

In addition to this, you would have the support of many grateful people.

I'm sure I'm not alone in urging Worthing Council to reconsider this sell-off, we are already losing some of Titnore Woods, we don't have much green land left.
