Summer fun at Chestnut Tree

Wow, is it September already? As usual, the Summer holidays have been a busy time for both the in-house and community teams at Chestnut Tree House.

Due to the varied nature of the services we offer, we hope to ensure all families receive the care that suits them most at these busy times.

For some families, a respite stay at the House gives them the opportunity for a complete break, whilst for others community-based care is much more suitable.

As a Community Team we can offer care in the child’s own home. In many cases this means we can meet the needs of the child whilst families balance the needs of siblings, working parents and all those other hectic daily times, without the upheaval of packing!

During the summer holidays there are also a number of additional events running at Chestnut Tree House including family barbeque, sibling days and more recently an under 5’s teddy bears picnic with our Saplings group!

Everyone is invited to take part, so many of our East Sussex families travel across to the house in order to socialise and engage with each other whilst not committing to a period of time in the hospice itself.

All of these activities are very popular and it is always lovely to see so many familiar faces. Of course, we can only continue to offer these services due to the generosity of the local community as we receive less than 8% of our funding from central government.
