Ofsted says Pagham Playgroup is outstanding

An Ofsted inspection has seen the group, owned by Jean Powell, gain the top rating in all 17 categories assessed during a recent visit.

The judgment by inspector Lisa Coupples means the playgroup is providing care of its youngsters as good as anywhere in the country.

Mrs Powell said: “To get this verdict from the inspector in all areas is quite something. I’ve been involved with the playgroup for 40 years and I’ve never had an outstanding result before.

“We’ve always been said to be good but we’ve never been in that top level until now.

“I have a good team of staff and we have good premises and a nice outdoor area, which is all important.”

The playgroup opened in 1970 and meets at the Pagham Church Centre.
