Ninfield Village Voice - October 24

ST. OSWALD'S, HOOE: The ploughmans' lunch held in Hooe village hall was most successful and enjoyable.

The soup was delicious and the ham, salad, cheese and biscuits an excellent choice. The committee had organised the lunch and everyone involved had worked hard - sincere thanks to them all from all who attended the event. They hope to continue these occasional lunches for the benefit of the village.

MS COFFEE MORNING: The Methodist Church Hall was full of chatter from all those who had come along to support Nora's annual coffee morning held in aid of Multiple Sclerosis. There were many items, cakes included, to tempt you all of which resulted in 241 being raised. Nora and her friends thank you all very much for your generous support.

NINFIELD Horticultural Society: There was a good attendance at the annual general meeting where once the business was finished everyone was looking forward to the talk. There was no change to the committee or officers, surprise, surprise - and the treasurer reported there is money in the bank.

After refreshments and the raffle members relaxed and listened to Robin Goldsmith talking about Church Wood in Ninfield. Robin is the leader of the current volunteers, Daphne, Terry and Chris who work in the Wood each Wednesday. He provided a great deal of interesting background information to the present situation. Robin displayed many photographs showing the work being done in the wood throughout the year.

Robin was warmly thanked by Rose, the show organiser, and among the questions was a request that another guided walk be held next year. It was a most enjoyable evening.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, November 19, when Ian Rumley-Dawson will talk about the 'Wildlife of the Welsh Coastline'. A reminder will follow.
