Mr Potten studied for a B.A.Hons in Literary Studies at Portsmouth before going on to complete his PGCE training at Homerton College, Cambridge.

Previous to his post at Oakmeeds, he taught in Cambridge and Croydon, as well as spending time remote community teaching with Australian Aborigines.

Mr Potten says he is passionate about leading and developing the college to reach its goal of "outstanding" in the future, the common and shared vision of all involved.

Mr Potten said: "I am very excited to be joining Robertsbridge Community College at such a dynamic time in its development.

"I realise what a special community the college represents and was struck by the happy and purposeful ethos of the college as soon as I walked through its doors.

"I look forward to building on the excellent work of Mrs Roberts, my predecessor, and to leading the college to even greater success in the future."

Former Robertsbridge Community College headteacher Karen Roberts has taken up a post at Rainham School for Girls in Kent.
