The application for the facility at the Worlds End recreation ground, Burgess Hill, was approved unanimously by Mid Sussex District Council’s planning committee on Thursday (August 30).

Called ‘Changing Places’ toilets, they will include specialised equipment such as a hoist and adjustable changing bench.

The modular building will be installed next to the existing pavilion at the ground, in Janes Lane.

Colin Holden (Con, Burgess Hill – St Andrew’s) told the meeting this would be only the second such facility in the town.

He added: “It’s needed because the adjacent playground is about to be doubled in size and a number of disabled facilities put in for children, so it’s logical to have it.”
