Mobilising Support

MOBILE phones have been pouring in to the Littlehampton Gazette office, Beach Road, in support of a fund-raiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), writes Emma Rogers.

And now leader of Arun District Council Derek Whittaker has come on board and donated three unused, old or broken phones, each one raising a minimum of 3, and he is urging other councillors, staff and readers to do the same.

In last week s Gazette, we highlighted Rebecca Collins story.

The six-year-old, of The Street, Rustington, has been visiting the London children s hospital since she was 20 months old, to have bone grafts to extend the digits on her right hand, to give her fingers.

Her mum, Lara Gregory, was full of praise for the hospital and wanted to help support the phone appeal.

For each mobile, West One Technology will give GOSH 3, and if it comes with a charger, 5.

The old phones are reconditioned and taken to developing countries.

Rebecca s brother Liam is also on board and, after his school play, The Pyramid at Rustington Community Primary, a collection of 370 was made for GOSH.

Anyone with an old phone, working or broken, can drop it off at the Gazette office, call the appeal on freephone 0800 0856312, or pack up to five phones in a padded envelope and send to Freepost 7 LON20170, London, W1E 4EE.
