Middleton fete boosts cash for village hall

Crowds packed Middleton's annual fete to raise £3,500 to help its village hall.

The money will be spent on redecorating the community building as well as a new kitchen and crockery.

The fete's popularity delighted its organiser, Joyce Weston, and her team of helpers.

Attractions at Shrubbs Field which drew in the large number of people on Sunday included a historic re-enactment group, country dancing and Egyptian dancing by the Clubbin-It children and songs by Stacey Turner.

A display of classic cars, a strong car boot sale with some 70 vehicles and a host of charity fundraising stalls also proved tempting to visitors.
