The first meeting of the year for Middleton Camera Club traditionally welcomes members, old and new, with an informal knock-out competition and this year it was no different.

The competition was enthusiastic and more than 80 entries were judged by the members.

The winner was Derek Hunt with his poignant black and white print ‘Last puff before the bus’.

However, the challenge on the first meeting was not just photographic.

Chairman Dave Chuter was delayed in traffic along with much of the equipment – and most importantly, the tea and coffee.

Members also had to cope with the screen collapsing more than once, the technology shuffle and a CD which wouldn’t run.

But members found the meeting entertaining all the same, and it was a great icebreaker for the new season.

The club is going from strength to strength, and several new folk were warmly welcomed.
