Man died afterfall from chair

Police gained entry to Keith Nicholls' flat in Cavendish Road, Bognor, when he was found lying on the floor on October 8.

An inquest heard how he had stood on the chair to reach something from a cupboard but the chair collapsed and he fell and hit his neck on the chair.

A member from the Clock Walk Project, which offers counselling for people with drink and drug addictions, visited Mr Nicholls and alerted the police when they saw him lying on the floor. Mr Nicholls was nearly three times over the drink-drive limit when he died. West Sussex Coroner Martin Milward recorded the verdict of accidental death at an inquest being held at Chichester Combined Court Centre on November 27.
