Major Rustington clean up operation

Contractors for Southern Water are working on several hundred metres of the watercourse from the Windmill Bridge downstream towards Littlehampton.

It has taken several weeks to remove items such as fridges, freezers, tyres, parts of cars and shopping trolleys.

Rod Pearson, an environment officer from the Environment Agency, said: "The whole watercourse from the bridge all the way down a good few hundred metres is in such a state."
