Littlehampton teenage tearaway gets ASBO

A TIRADE of vandalism and abuse has led to a Littlehampton teenager being banned from parts of the town.

Adam Gee, 16, was served with an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) on Monday, which means he can't go into Tesco, Broadpiece, where he consistently harassed shoppers and staff caused criminal damage, and has been barred from visiting Osborne Close for two years.

Gee, who did not contest the order, has also been ordered not to leave his Linden Road home between the hours of 9pm and 7am, until November.

District councillor Roger Elkins, Arun's cabinet member for community safety, said an ASBO was the last resort, but necessary in combating the blight of anti-social behaviour.

"It was appropriate in this case as Mr Gee's anti-social behaviour has spanned a lengthy period of time and after other action had failed to secure an improvement.

"The Community Safety Team has a duty to protect the community it represents and will not hesitate to take action against anyone who engages in such behaviour."

Should Gee break the terms of the order, he could face criminal charges and even a prison sentence.

Mr Elkins added that anti-social behaviour should be reported to the team by calling 0808 1412800 or click here.
