Littlehampton pensioner relives mugging ordeal

AN 83-year-old woman was punched in the back by a mugger who stole her pension money in broad daylight.

The woman, who has asked not to be named, was walking through an alleyway connecting Jays Close and Arundel Road, Littlehampton, at about 1.30pm on August 19, when she was set upon by two teenagers.

"I felt someone hit me in the back, and then saw this young man run off with my bag.

"It all happened so fast I didn't really know what was happening. I had 70 in cash, and two weeks' pension money in there, but also little knick-knacks that my grandchildren had made me. Things that I can't replace."

She added that the incident had left her very shaken.

"Right after, I was just angry, but as the days have gone on I am scared.."

The two are described as "foreign looking". The first was aged about 18, wearing a black hooded top. The second was about 17, with a skinny build, wearing black trousers.

A spokeswoman for Sussex police said: "Officers have carried out extensive enquiries in a bid to identify the offenders and locate witnesses.
