Let's all back Yapton's bid for World Cup footie song glory

YAPTON'S World Cup football song has made it to the final of a radio station's competition to find a new anthem for Fabio Capello's England team.

Voting is now underway in the final, and the writers of Yapton's catchy number, "Capello", are pleading with Gazette readers to support their song.

Under the name, Messy Productions, Jamie Huband, his wife Mary, work colleague Ali Turner and their four children all feature in the tribute to the England manager and his squad.

The song got off to a good start when voting started this morning (Friday, June 11), but rival number "Fabio", by Back of the Net, has now overtaken Yapton's bid for glory in the Wave FM competition.

Voting continues until 7.30am on Monday morning, when the winner will be announced on Steve Power's Wave 105 breakfast show.

Narrow victory

"Capello" had the narrowest of victories in the semi-final against "Big Game Hunters", by Headhunters, having romped through the earlier rounds.

Voting for the final continues until Monday morning and Gazette readers can back "Capello" by clicking on the link on the Wave website, www.wave105.com
