Lee Evans' gig sold out

TOP comic Lee Evans has blown away box office records in the town after his show at the De La Warr Pavilion sold out in just over three hours.

Tickets for his one-night only performance went on sale at 10am.

And by the start of the afternoon the last of them had been sold.

The queue briefly snaked out of the pavilion door and into the car park as fans waited to purchase their tickets.

The Observer was the first to break the news of his appearance in Bexhill.

Evans has already sold out the O2 Arena in London as part of his UK tour.

Famed for his acting, as well as his manic stand-up, he has appeared on stage in The Producers and in films such as There's Something About Mary and Mousehunt.

A pavilion spokesman said: "The De La Warr Pavilion welcomes international comedy film star Lee Evans to the pavilion as a last-minute addition to our Spring season.

"Three hours after bookings opened we sold out all available tickets '“ that is almost 1,000 people '“ who, we understand, heard an announcement on Southern FM this morning or saw the news on the front page of the Observer.

"Other sold out shows in the coming season include Goldfrapp, with very few tickets now left for Harry Hill and Marc Almond. Jose Gonzalez was also sold out a week before the show.

"The De La Warr Pavilion is delighted to be able to offer the very best in music and comedy to its visitors in the coming months. With more and more people booking on-line we would encourage everyone to keep an eye on our website or join our e-mailing list for up to date information."

Lee Evans will be at the pavilion on June 3.
