Investment plans for university Bognor campus revealed

DETAILED plans have been revealed of the latest stage of the multi-million pound improvements at Bognor Regis' university campus.

The proposal is to create a business innovation centre at the University of Chichester’s site along with new teaching rooms and lecture theatre in the current library and new rehearsal spaces for its musical theatre students.

The campus on Upper Bognor Road is benefiting from a large investment to expand its student numbers as the university plays its part in the town’s regeneration.

Its latest stage of work has been sent to Arun District Council for formal planning approval. The details of the proposed scheme include a 150-seat lecture room, three teaching rooms and two primary practical classrooms.

The student services building will become a business innovation centre through some internal changes and a new entrance canopy, external doors and a patio area. A total of 18 new parking spaces for the centre will be created on the slab of the Mead Centre. Mark Willis, of the university’s planning agent Harrington Design Architects, says the improvements can be carried out without altering the appearance of one of Bognor’s most historic sites.
