Hit and run horror

POLICE want to trace the driver of a car involved in an horrific hit and run in Wick Farm Road, Littlehampton, on Thursday at 6.30pm.

A man and a woman were taken to hospital with leg injuries when the two parked cars they were standing between were pushed together by a white Ford Sierra estate.

The woman sustained severe bruising to her legs and the man has possible ligament damage to his knee, which may need surgery.

The Ford Sierra estate shunted one of the parked cars, which crushed the legs of the people standing between them. The driver then mounted the pavement, drove round the parked cars, rejoined the road and absconded with his passenger.

The driver is described as a white male, aged around 18, with short, brown hair.

Police are particularly keen to trace the driver of a blue car, which appeared to chase the offender as he was fleeing from the scene.

Investigating officer PC Jason Vickers, from Chichester road policing unit, said: "This was potentially quite a serious incident because the victims could have been killed. I have spoken to the family of one of the victims and they are very upset indeed."

If you witnessed the incident, or you have any information, please contact PC Vickers at Chichester RPU on 0845 60 70 999, or call the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
