Much-loved actress and Born Free co-founder, Virginia McKenna OBE will co-sign certificates with Jane Goodall, for the 50 very special limited edition books.

Remembering Great Apes follows the incredible success of Remembering Rhinos, and Remembering Elephants, which have raised an astonishing £300,000 to date for Born Free’s vital conservation work.

The new book will only be possible through generous public support, and will be funded by a Kickstarter campaign, which launched on Friday February 23.

Support for the project is vital to ensure that the book goes ahead, and there are a number of special incentives and rewards for those who pledge money through the Kickstarter campaign, whether that’s £5 or £3,000 (the cost of the number one limited edition). The Kickstarter campaign will allow supporters to pre-order a copy of Remembering Great Apes, and fund the creation of this highly collectible publication.

Pre-ordered books cost £40 each (RRP £45) plus postage.

Remembering Wildlife founder, wildlife photographer Margot Raggett, said: “I have been completely overwhelmed by how many people have embraced and supported the Remembering Wildlife book series and utterly thrilled at how that has translated into such considerable funds raised for conservation projects.

“It has been an honour to partner with Born Free throughout this journey and I could not be happier to be partnering with them once again for this new book.

“I recently saw gorillas and chimpanzees for the first time in the wild with our ambassador, Born Free Patron Dan Richardson, and we were both deeply moved by the experience.

“Having the chance to raise awareness about the plight facing these beautiful animals and the chance to raise funds to protect them makes me extremely proud. I could not be more grateful to the photographers whose continued and generous support makes the whole project possible.”

Born Free’s president, Will Travers OBE, said: “There isn’t a single great ape species that is not in serious trouble. Gorillas, bonobos, orangutans and chimpanzees.

“Wherever they are in the world are threatened by the relentless impact of their closest living relatives – us!

“Remembering Great Apes will give everyone, not only great pleasure, but the opportunity to help save, protect and conserve these amazing animals.”
