Glass guru raises £700 for ARRCC charity

ANTIQUES Roadshow glass expert Andy McConnell raised £700 for the ARRCC charity when he held a series of fun evenings at his Rye shop.

During the evenings he shared his expertise on using decanters for wine.

Andy was keen to support the charity after a collection box, where customers could make donations to the charity in exchange for appraisals and evaluations, was stolen in the summer.

Irna Mortlock, from ARRCC said: “John Brownsdon, Master of Wine, examined the question Why Decant?; this was followed, by an intriguing tasting, consisting of a Bordeaux served simultaneously in three different glasses. The evening was rounded off with Andy’s interesting and innovative talk on the decanter.

“Grace O’Neill and all at ARRCC would like to thank Helen and Andy McConnell for organising this wonderful event.”
