Find out more about the big questions in modern science at Graffham’s festival celebrating the sciences in the week starting on Sunday (June 21).

The festival builds on the success of last year’s Graffham arts festival. One of the highlights will be the short talks taking place on the evenings of Tuesday and Friday.

In addition to a tour of the universe and the ways modern technology can be used to restore sight, the Tuesday talks in the village hall will cover coastal engineering, physics, aeronautical engineering, the microscopic investigation of bone, the interplay between science and religion and the journey through a PhD.

Friday’s topics will have a more ecological flavour with talks, which, weather permitting, will take place at a village pond-side, on the science of the garden pond, moths, bats, mosquitoes and malaria.

During the week there is an eclectic range of other events from moth-trapping to maths and a showing of The Theory of Everything, starring Eddie Redmayne.
