Newhaven Town Council is selling the former home of the Newhaven Cemetery superintendent which is inside the walls of the graveyard in Lewes Road.
The cemetery has always had a lodge for workers to live on site since it was opened in the 1880s.

Hide AdThe original lodge was demolished in the 1950s and the current house was built in its place
Now due to changes in the way people work, the house in no longer needed and the council has decided to sell it.
The house is said to be in need of some modernisation and is due to be sold at auction today (Thursday) with a guide price of 230,000 - 250,000.
Town clerk Ian Everest said: 'It is unusual property to come on the market in that it is inside the cemetery grounds.

Hide Ad'A new road entrance and fencing has been constructed though, so it has its own access and parking area.
'Whilst living in this position might not be everyone's preference there has been a lot of inquires and it will be good to get the building back into use.'
The money raised from the sale is likely to be spent on improving facilites for young people in the town.
