Fire service in seafront training exercise

Five East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service appliances are at Hastings seafront today (Friday, July 15).

The Observer has received numerous calls reporting an ongoing incident near White Rock Road and Robertson Street from around 10.30am this morning.

However, the fire service has told people not to panic as the presence is just down to an ongoing training exercise.

One lady said it took more than an hour to travel from Bexhill to Hastings for a meeting at Café Des Arts on Robertson Street, due to traffic caused by the exercise.
