Fire safety course for Hastings business owners

The fire service is offering business owners in Hastings the chance to learn more about fire safety in the workplace.

The free safer business training course will be available to all business owners at The Ridge Community Fire Station from 9.30am to 1.30pm on Thursday, July 14.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service’s course is part of a series targeting businesses across the county in a bid to keep both owners and staff safe.

Watch manager Justin Goodchild said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to spread the word about fire safety among local businesses and to the highlight dangers not only to a business but potential monetary cost, not to mention life cost.

“We will be speaking to the businesses who attend this event spanning across 1066 about how they can take positive action to prevent themselves and their staff becoming victims of fire.

“Our training is designed to give tools to reduce the risk to a fire occurring within a business.

“This training has been produced in a way to help businesses to manage this.

“We want to make the legislation and responsibilities easier for people to understand in order to help people stay in business.”

The programme offers a free introduction to business fire safety courses to firms in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.
