Fire crews called to Eastbourne petrol tanker incident

Fire crews were called to reports of a petrol tanker with ‘smoking brakes’ near an Eastbourne petrol station this morning (Thursday, July 16).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said crews were called at 4.15am to the Lottbridge Drove Tesco Extra.

According to ESFRS, firefighters dealt with the situation by cooling the tanker’s brakes down with a hose.

An ESFRS spokesperson said, “We were called at 4.15am this morning to reports of a petrol tanker with smoking brakes at Lottbridge Drove Tesco Extra.

“Crews cooled the brakes down with a hose.”
