Felpham nursery site eyed up for development

A housing estate could be built on the site of a Felpham nursery.

An outline planning application for 29 houses to replace Ivy Cottage Nursery has been submitted to Arun District Council to consider.

The proposal is to establish the principle of development on the site along Flansham Lane. If it is approved, a detailed application will be needed before any work can begin.

Planning agent Anthony Greenwood, of Henry Adams, said the intended estate would comprise 21 three-bedroom houses and eight two-bedroom houses.

Affordable housing will comprise 40 per cent of the intended scheme. A new access road, landscaping and open space would be provided as part of the proposed estate.

"It's considered that the proposal will provide an attractive place in which to live, while both respecting and enhancing the local area," said Mr Greenwood in a statement with the application.

He added the housing density - at 37 dwellings a hectare '“ and the use of land in an urban area on a bus route were all in line with government planning guidelines.
